Juniors - How Parents can Help
Ways of Getting Involved with Waimairi Junior Tennis
- Junior Club Committee Member: The Junior Committee meets about 5 times a season to look at Junior Tennis at Waimairi and plan the calender. This is then put forward to the Club Committee.
- Interclub Teams Supervisor: A supervisor is responsible for about 6 interclub teams. Their main job is to organise replacements when a team is short. There is a procedure for this which is easy to follow. A great way to get to know more families at the club. You will also be the gentle reminder for those teams. As a supervisor it is up to you how much you put in …. You can follow your teams as to how they are going etc….
- Junior Interclub shirts: All interclub players are given shirts. Shirts have to be collected in at the end of each season and given out at the beginning of the next. Stock numbers taken and then the committee advised how many more are needed. If you have a system that you think would work for this please let us know.
- Lost Property: It is amazing as to how much gets left behind. We need someone to check the lost property from time to time and contact parents if an article has a name and number. Periodically what is not claimed is then put in the clothing bin.
- Sunday morning roster: In the past we have had supervised match play open to all juniors on a Sunday. We would like to start this up again this season. The more parents put their name down the better. Ideally you would only need to do it twice a season. It is just a matter of opening up the club and being there as a supervisor.
- With a social event: This would be for helping out at with a sausage sizzle on a twilight night or something similar.
- With a tournament: Again helping with a tounament either sausage sizzle or keeping all games moving ahead.
Parents are able to get involved with their childs tennis and the club at all
levels. It does not have to be a parent, maybe even a grandparent would like
