Welcome to the 2009/10 junior tennis season at the Waimairi Club.
We welcome our new Head Coach Stu Chalmers who has taken up his position on 1st August.
Stu comes to us with considerable coaching experience at club and more latterly regional level. Stu will bring a fresh approach to our coaching programme which we expect will enhance the learning experience and add more enjoyment for our members. We know you will give Stu your support.
There will be no major change to the format of our coaching programme and we will continue to enter teams in all grades as we have done in the past. As a new initiative we intend to enter teams in the Junior Mini Tennis League which is open to younger children in our midget/pre interclub categories and held on Friday evenings at Wilding Park.
A change has been made to the playing day for Challenger Grades. This will be on a Sunday morning at Wilding Park and at clubs. This will ensure quality court playing conditions.
We look forward to welcoming you back at Waimairi for this summer season.
REGISTRATION FORMS
Enclosed is your registration form for the coming season. A SIGNED REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED FOR EVERY JUNIOR MEMBER. If you are registering to play Interclub, please give us as many coaching time options as you can. Extra registration forms can be downloaded from our website www.tennisclub.co.nz. PLEASE ENSURE ALL PRIVACY ITEMS ARE COMPLETED.
REGISTRATION DAYS
We are having three registration days to give you every opportunity to register on time. They are Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 August 5-7pm, and Sunday 16 August 9am-12 noon. Stu will be available for interclub assessment on each day. There will be Eftpos facilities available on these days, and we are able to accept Visa and Mastercard also. If you are unable to make any registration day, forms and subs must reach Waimairi Tennis Club by Saturday 5 September 2009.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
The Club has made a small adjustment to the junior subscriptions. The increase is to contribute towards new capital expenditure planned this season. Special payment terms are available upon request.
INTERCLUB SHIRTS
We will be checking shirt requirements at registration. If you have one still from a previous season please let us know or bring it along if you need to exchange it for a larger size. Team shirts will be issued to team captains the week prior to the start of interclub.
MESSAGE FROM HEAD COACH STU CHALMERS:
Hello to you all.
I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to return to coaching at club level at Waimairi.
I’ve been away from the courts for a spell after 14 years spent firstly as a club coach then latterly as regional coach for Canterbury. The break has left me refreshed and ready for the challenge that working for this club will offer.
The facilities at the club are first rate and therefore it is up to me to ensure that the coaching services that are offered by our team of coaches are first rate also.
I look forward to meeting you all in the next few weeks as the season gathers momentum. For those of you who have not been playing over winter, blow the dust off your racquets, maybe treat yourself to a re-string and head on down to the club for a bit of pre-season action.
